Pilots get away with petty punishments at Jet Airways

The aviation experts will confirm that any kind of lapses in the aviation sector is not tolerated. Some of the lapses are mentioned below which is a clear case of bending the norms in favour of Jet Airways.

Capt. NT Malkani - Jet Air

Capt. NT Malkani – He has done the heaviest landing that too in charter flight of the troop of former US President Bill Clinton. The incident was never reported to the DGCA and Naresh Goyal managed the same case getting clean chit to Malkani without any investigation. Capt. Malkani in the past has been flying without valid trainer licence still he was allowed to exercise the privileges of license. Moreover, post retirement the pilot was allowed to become Flight Safety Chief of Jet Airways and after the RTI filed by Kalchakra, he was forced to quit from this sensitive post but still continues to be the advisor of Naresh Goyal.

Malkani was the key person to release the flight to Waterkloof. It is revealed by sources close to Naresh Goyal that the charter flight was booked by Ajay Gupta – NRI of South Africa, the flight was sent with a dual purpose; to carry cash and gold under the garb of a marriage. Capt. Malkani is key person manipulating DGCA and Rajiv Gupta the then CFOI, gave the false information to pilots and ATC and allowed the flight to leave the country.

Kalchakra’s investigation reveals that Malkani and Naresh Goyal knew it very well that the Customs and DRI had no control over the outbound cargo, only the CISF and GMR have been authorised to scan the cargo. Where the CISF is only concerned about the explosive part the cargo scanning. Malkani and Goyal easily managed the smuggling of gold and cash under the garb of the wedding gifts etc. The same protocol was extended in South Africa and the report of the authorities reveal that no custom and immigration was done at the Waterkloof airbase, which is a serious lapse.

Capt. M.I. Mahna – the senior most pilot of Naresh Goyal’s Jet Airways, flying Airbus 330, also designated as the examiner in the airline on behalf of the DGCA. Capt. Mahna was a habitual offender of breaking Civil Aviation laws in the past this pilot violated the FDTL norms and compromised with the safety of innocent flyers. Recently, on the compaint of Kalchakra his another violation was reported to the DGCA and the matter is being investigated. The violation are of such serios nature that the licence of this pilot shall be cancelled. Interestingly, Naresh Goyal flew from Dubai 5th December 2015 with a motive only to ‘manage’ some key persons in the DGCA /MoCA, investigating Capt. Mahna’s case.

Capt. Kunal Khajuria- working in the management of Jet Airways has also done multiple violations compromising the safety of the travelers. In the past he has been grounded from the post of trainer for two years by the DGCA. In his last case of Sept 2014, he once again committed the violation while performing his duties in March 2015. The Jt. DG, DGCA Mr. JS Rawat decided to remove the trainership of this pilot, however the CFOI planted by Naresh Goyal in DGCA, Capt. Ajay Singh ensured that Mahna is given only a 3 month penalty in such a serious violation. The surprising element in all such violations is that all the violations of serious nature are being committed by those pilots who are at key positions in the management of Jet Airways. Why does Naresh Goyal hire people with weak ability in his management? If the Waterkloof incident is to be seen then the hidden agenda and vested interest of Goyal can be fullfilled only with the help of such incompetent people, who can easily break laws on the order of their Chairman, who acts on the wishes of his hidden investors.
